Tragic ! Banker Who Took N3M Loan For His Wedding Commits Suicide 2 Months After

Tragedy as a man identified as John Okpanachi reportedly committed suicide over marriage he loaned #3m crashed barely two months after wedding, throwing his relatives into mourning.

The deceased identified as John learned works in one of the new generational banks in the Kaduna branch and is 37 years of age.

According to the elder brother of the deceased identified as Micheal Okpanach, a note found beside his corpse inside his sitting room reveals he committed suicide over his marriage crash.

Micheal added that the deceased borrowed over N3 million from a bank for his wedding.

It was learnt that the deceased, John was a resident at the Sabo area along the refinery road in Kaduna before his death, married a lady from the Ankpa area of Kogi state while he comes from Ofu local government in the same state with his wife.

The elder brother of the deceased said John’s marriage hit a rock as soon as they wedded, narrating how his brother had on many occasions called him to report how the wife was trying to turn him into a house boy, an attempt he said his brother resisted.

He disclosed that the marriage finally came to an ended when John’s ex-wife pulled him out of a car he was driving on a busy street of Kaduna, on the ground that the car is a wedding gift from her father, claiming her husband has no right to drive the car without her approval.

Michael further disclosed that his younger brother,John who was angry with the development in his home terminated the marriage two months after the wedding and did not come out of the trauma until he committed suicide.

John who committed suicide on Tuesday morning according to the elder brother drank a poisonous chemical suspected to be a sniper and was seen when his neighbours forced open his door when they did not see him until 1:00 pm.

He added that his dead body has been deposited in a mortuary while the family is preparing to take him back to Ofu for burial.

Another traditional ruler, Dan’iya of Kano, Alhaji Yusuf Bayero, is dead. He died last night at the age of 87 and will be laid to rest this morning.

Bayero was the district head of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area of the state before his death.

Bayero was said to be the first district head Ajingi Local Government Area in the history of Kano state.

The death of the traditional ruler is one of the series of deaths that has recently taken the lives of many prominent Kano indigenes, including the Emir of Rano and renowned professors.

Police Reveals What They Will Do If Oyedepo Reopen Church

The police in Ogun State have sent strong warning to Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) over his plan to reopen his church.

Recalls that Bishop Oyedepo, in a viral video, on Friday, said he had declared churches open, saying anybody against the reopening of churches will die.

Oyedepo’s Living Faith Church is headquartered in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government area of Ogun State.

 In a veiled reference to Oyedepo, the police said they have information that some religious leaders in Ogun are preparing to open their religious centres for people to converge.

This, the police said was in total disobedience to both the state and federal government directives.

A statement by the state Police Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said appealed to such religious leaders to have a change of heart, saying “security agencies in the state will view the opening of worship centres with all seriousness.”

Oyeyemi said the police would not tolerate any act capable of undermining the determination of the state and federal government to fight Coronavirus to a standstill, stressing that “the ban on all forms of gathering be it social or religious is still in force.”

The statement reads:

“It has come to the notice of Ogun State Police Command that some religious leaders in the state are preparing to open their various religious centers for people to converge in total disobedience to both the state and federal government directives.

 

“The command hereby appeals to such religious leaders in both Islamic and Christian faith who may be having such intention to have a change of mind because the security agencies in the state will view such with all seriousness.

“The command will not tolerate any act capable of undermining the determination of the state and federal government to fight the COVID 19 pandemic to a standstill.

“The commissioner of police, therefore, wish to use this medium to remind all religious leaders that the ban on all forms of gathering; be it social or religious is still in force. He also admonished all and sundry to cooperate with the government in its efforts to make the state coronavirus-free.”

VIDEO: Residents shun social distancing to drink after truck conveying beer fell in Anambra

A video showing residents of Ekwulobia in Anambra state carting away bottles of drinks after a truck conveying crates of beer fell on the roadside has surfaced online and gone viral. 

The incident reportedly happened on Friday while the truck was on its way to an unknown destination with the drinks.

In the video clip, many of the residents can be seen besieging the scene of the incident trying to make away with bottles that still contain content.

Some of them can also be seen packed together with no regard for the government’s social distancing directive aimed at combating spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The development comes at about the same time when there are growing concerns over the rising cases of the novel disease in the country.

So far, Nigeria has 3,912 cases of the virus with 117 deaths recorded while 679 patients have been discharged after treatment.

Obama calls Trump’s handling of pandemic a ‘chaotic disaster’

Former President of the United States, Barack Obama, has launched a scathing attack on Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, calling it an “absolute chaotic disaster.”

In a leaked web call Friday night with former members of his administration, Obama also said the Justice Department’s decision to drop charges against Michael Flynn, the former Trump national security adviser who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI in the Russia probe, endangers the rule of law in the US.

In the audio, first obtained by Yahoo News, Obama urges former staffers to join him in rallying behind Joe Biden as he prepares to take on Trump in the November presidential election.

The United States by far leads the world in the number of coronavirus infections, at nearly 1.3 million, and deaths, with more than 77,000.

Trump has been criticized as essentially abdicating any leadership role in guiding the country through one of its worst crises in a century, leaving states on their own to grapple with the pandemic and even bid against each other to obtain critical medical equipment on the open market or abroad.

Critics say Trump, after first downplaying the threat posed by the virus, squandered precious time in February as the pathogen spread in America and his administration did little to stock up on testing kits and other medical gear or to develop a cohesive national strategy.

With an eye to re-election, the president has also been blasted as putting his own political interests before human life by aggressively pushing states to reopen their devastated economies without a clear blueprint for how to do it safely.

– ‘Being selfish, being tribal’ 

–“What we’re fighting against is these long

-term trends in which being selfish, being tribal, being divided, and seeing others as an enemy

 — that has become a stronger impulse in American life,” Obama told his former staffers.

“It’s part of the reason why the response to this global crisis has been so anemic and spotty,” Obama said.

“It would have been bad even with the best of governments. It has been an absolute chaotic disaster when that mindset 

— of ‘what’s in it for me’ and ‘to heck with everybody else’ 

— when that mindset is operationalized in our government,” he said.

Obama said that the dropping of charges against Flynn was ominous.

“That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk,” he said.

Obama endorsed Biden’s candidacy last month and has said he would be deeply involved in his campaign against Trump.

He told the Obama Alumni Association: “I am hoping that all of you feel the same sense of urgency that I do.”
