Pastor who laid hands on COVID-19 patients dies of virus

A Pastor, Frankline Ndifor, 39, who laid his hands on dozens of confirmed and suspected coronavirus sufferers is dead, according to Dailymail.co.uk

Dr Gaelle Nnanga, who was called to treat Ndifor after he started suffering severe respiratory difficulties a week after falling ill with the virus, said the pastor died ten minutes after treatment.

Ndifor, a candidate in Cameroon’s presidential election in 2018, claimed to cure COVID-19.

in previous weeks, sufferers had flocked to the Kingship International Ministries Church, founded by Ndifor, where he laid his hands on them and prayed for their healing.

His supporters called him a ‘prophet’ and blocked the entrance to his home in the capital city of Douala for eight hours as medical workers tried to retrieve Ndifor’s body on Saturday morning.

The Governor of the coastal region said a police force had to be deployed when supporters blocked the entrance to his home and claimed the pastor was on a spiritual retreat with God so he could not be buried.

They sang and prayed for his resurrection throughout the weekend. He was buried in front of the house on the day of his death.

Dozens of people knelt down on the ground outside Ndifor’s house in Cameroon as they prayed over the loss of a man who called himself a ‘prophet’.

Ndifor also donated buckets and soap to people in need and his last public outing was on April 20, when he went out to distribute facemasks.

Ndifor came seventh out of nine candidates in the 2018 presidential election with 23,687 votes.

There have been 3,529 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and 140 deaths so far in the central African state.

60-year-old kills 57-year-old wife 'for having affairs with another man'

A 60-year-old man, Yikatey Somatey, has been arrested for killing his wife at Gando near Nyanyema, a suburb of the Sawla-Tuna Kalba District of the Savannah region in Ghana after he accused her of having affairs with another man.

The suspect accused his wife, Bora Bonbiatey 57, of cheating on him by having affairs with another man in their community.

Information gathered by Ghanaweb, an online news medium in Ghana, indicated that the man lured his wife to the bush in the name of performing a family ritual.

While in the bush, he poured pepper in her face before using a machete to inflict multiple wounds on her, leading to her death.

He was then said to have disposed off the body at a nearby bush and absconded. He was however arrested a few hours later.

According to the Sawla District Police Commander, ASP Degraft Armah Adjei who confirmed the news to journalists, the woman’s uncle reported the incident to the police.

“When the police got there, the deceased was lying lifeless with multiple wounds on her head believed to be from cutlass.”

The body of the deceased has since been handed over to the family for burial, he added.

No plan to impeach Akeredolu over N4.3bn secret money – Ondo Assembly

Ondo State House of Assembly members on Tuesday denied media reports that it was plotting to remove Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from office over the recent discovery of a secret account containing N4 .3 bn state funds.

They said they have a good working relationship with the executive arm of the government, adding that the speculation was to cause disaffection between the two arms.

The funds were said to have been lodged by the state government in a secret Zenith Bank account for over 10 years.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Olugbenga Omole, in a statement after plenary, denied reports that the House met on Monday to begin impeachment proceedings.

The statement said: “There was no plan to commence impeachment moves against Governor Akeredolu.

“The news making the rounds that the Speaker’s lodge was under siege is a hoax and the imagination of those behind it.

“The lodge was never under siege. The armed policemen sighted there were at some distance away and were there to maintain peace, law and order.

Omole explained that the issue of the N 4 .3 bn was discussed at the meeting, adding that all relevant documents relating to the funds should be submitted to the House Committee on Public Accounts and the Committee on Finance and Appropriation , respectively.

People with asthma 'shouldn't wear face masks', experts warn

People who have asthma or other lung conditions should not wear a face mask if it makes it more difficult to breathe, experts have warned.
The Government issued advice last week telling Brits to wear face masks where they can’t stay two metres away from other people to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Masks can help stop the spread of coronavirus – by catching droplets which infect other people – they may not stop the wearer from getting the virus, but prevents them passing it into the others.
Masks could make it ‘harder to breathe’
Asthma UK said: “For some people with asthma, wearing a face covering might not be easy. It could make it feel harder to breathe.

“The government has advised the people with respiratory conditions don’t need to wear face coverings – so if you are finding it hard, then don’t wear one.”

The Government guidance says: “If you can, wear a face covering in an enclosed space where social distancing isn’t possible and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.

“This is most relevant for short periods indoors in crowded areas, for example, on public transport or in some shops.”
It adds: “Face coverings should not be used by children under the age of 2 or those who may find it difficult to manage them correctly. For example, primary age children unassisted, or those with respiratory conditions.”

For people who suffer from asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or lung cancer, wearing masks can be particularly difficult.
Immunology and infectious diseases specialist at New York University Dr Purvi Parikh told the MailOnline: “Those with lung conditions are in a catch-22 because they probably need the mask more than the average person but it can be challenging to breathe.

“A tight mask on your face can make anyone have trouble breathing.

“I even get it when I’m treating my patients.”

She said warm weather could make it even more difficult.

“We’re approaching summer-time so it’s hot outside, and when you’re consistently breathing hot air on top of your own breath that can be quite uncomfortable.”

The Government has published a how-to guide to help people make their own facial coverings – and stresses people should not be buying medical grade masks needed by NHS staff and social care workers.

Dr Parikh said people who can wear masks comfortably – even if they have asthma or COPD – should do so where possible.

She said: “[Vulnerable] people should absolutely wear masks if they can.

Not only will it protect them but people with asthma or COPD may actually spread more of the virus because they’re coughing, sneezing and breathing harder than other people.” (Metro UK)
