Governor Kayode Fayemi: A Light In The Tunnel -By- Dr Lee Akin Badeji

When God decrees goodness for a people, He gives them a leader with a purposeful direction. A leader with altruistic tendencies. A leader with the Midas touch and a leader with listening ears. It is therefore sufficient enough to say that the Fountain of Knowledge state, Èkìtì may never have been this blessed, since its creation with a leader with forthrightness until the incumbent Governor John Olukayode Folorunsho Fayemi came on board. The trajectory of the milestones of the administration of the Governor Fayemi-led from his first term transiting into his second and final term will without equivocation put his name on the sands of time in the annals of Èkìtì chronicle.

Governor Kayode Fayemi has constantly kept his mandate with the Èkìtì people. He has hitherto delivered without faltering on his mandate. He has kept his promise with the elders. He has kept his words with the youngsters. He has kept his mandate with every indigene and dweller in the entire Èkìtì enclave. His proactive leadership prowess was seen in the way and manner he has handled the novel COVID19 pandemic. He did show a pragmatic leadership when he, as the first ever governor in the Federation launched mobile COVID19 test to all Èkìtì inhabitants in all the sixteen (16) Local Government Councils within the State.

Èkìtì State under Governor Kayode Fayemi has taken her rightful position in the comity of states in the Federation. Before this time, the state was notorious for many theatrics.

A corollary of the former governor's gutter politics with many embarrassing delinquencies. Today in Èkìtì State, governance is at its peak. It has gone beyond stomach infrastructure which can even be described as an utopian hallmark of the former administration. Today, it is development in all nooks and crannies of the 'Ilè-Iyì, Ilè-Èye' State. Road constructions, health care delivery, economic revamp (to engender socio-economic balance between the haves and the have-nots among other developmental projects.

Governor Kayode Fayemi is incontrovertibly synonymous to development. Going through his sterling records of achievements with such paucity of funds at his disposal, he deserves the sobriquet - Mr. Development. His administration in a bid to make the entire roads State pot-hole free, procured earth-moving equipment for the production of asphalt. People of the State could not have voted for a better candidate when they did in 2018. Aside fixing the bad roads in the state, the government of the State has embarked on a number of road projects which include but are not limited to the following;

👉 Secretariat Lots I and II
👉 Ire-Ilupeju road
👉 Federal University, Oye-Èkìtì road
👉 Aramoko-Erinjiyan road
👉 Ilawe road
👉 Agbado-Omuo road
👉 College of Agriculture, Isan-Èkìtì
👉 Igbemo road

Who is not happy with Governor Fayemi's administration? Is it the elderly whose wife's pet project tagged OUNJÉ ARÚGBÓ (that seeks to provide food palliative and cash token to the aged) that are not happy with the government? Or the parents of Senior Secondary School pupils numbering 14,242 whose West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees were paid by the state government that will not be happy? A compassionate leader with empathy for the masses. The ongoing novel disease COVID19 has had its toll on everyone including businesses. And the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi did not disappoint when he came up with palliatives for the common man on the streets. Such a leader is hard to come by in the present political space in the country.

It is these sterling and unprecedented deliverables from a leader with a kind heart, a leader with a compassionate mind and a leader who's a go-getter that I, Dr. Akin Lee Badeji, the Chairman, Èkìtì State Wing of the All Progressives Congress, APC, United Kingdom want to commend His Excellency, the Executive Governor of our dear Èkìtì State on his giant strides since assumption of office. I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that with you at the helms of affairs, it can only get better in Èkìtì land.

Soar higher J.K.F!

Signed
