Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has joined other Nigerians in mourning the death of a second republic minister of power and steel, Paul Unongu
Prince Adebayo in series of tweet in his verified Twitter handle recounted the leadership imprint of the late Erstwhile Minister especially his drive towards the industrialization of the country stressing he will ever be remembered for his role towards the conceptualization of the Ajaokuta steel industry.
“Where ever we choose to bury Paul Unongu, Ajaokuta steel complex would always be his canotaph and the burial ground of our steely dreams” continuing, Adebayo said he saw that the days of the elder statesman on earth was near when he recently visited him “I mourn elder Statesman, Wantaregh, Paul Iyorpuu UNONGO who has died in Jos. This scion of Kwaghngise-Anure-Abera ancestry of Turan, Kwande LGA of Benue State did all he could to industrialise Nigeria and unify our people.I saw him days back and I knew days left were few. Paul Unongu who hailed from Jato Ata in Kwanda Local Government Area of Benue state died on Tuesday morning in Jos at the age of 87years.
He aspired for the Governorship of Benue state in 1983 and in 2017, he succeeded late matiama sule as Chairman Northern Elders Forum.
