Nigeria Records 276 New Cases Of COVID-19, Total Infections Rise To 8,344

Nigeria has recorded 276 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 8,344.

This was made known by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Tuesday night.

The NCDC said Lagos recorded 161 of the 276 cases while, Rivers had 36, Edo-27, Kaduna-19, Nasarawa-10, Oyo-6, Kano-4, Delta-3.

Nigeria records 229 new COVID-19 cases, total now 8068


Nigeria has recorded 229 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), increasing the total confirmed cases in the nation to 8,068.

Confirming the new cases, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) posted on its official Twitter handle; “229 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-90; Katsina-27; Imo-26; Kano-23; FCT-14; Plateau-12; Ogun-9; Delta-7; Borno-5; Rivers-5; Oyo-4; Gombe-3; Osun-2; Anambra-1; Bayelsa-1″

On Sunday, the Centre reported that 2,263 persons have successfully recovered from the virus and has been discharged. There was however an improvement as the total number of patients discharged has increased by 48, now totalling 2,311.

Lagos State remains the epicentre of the disease with 3,595 confirmed cases and followed by Kano State with 919 and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja with 519 cases.

Father arrested for defiling own daughters aged 6 and 9 in Ondo


A 48-year-old father, Femi Onifade has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ondo State for sexually defiling his two daughters.

The victims who are aged 6 and 9 lived with him at their No 27 Liberty Hospital Road, Oluwatuyi, Akure, the state capital.

The officials of the state chapter of the NSCDC effected his arrest at his residence following complaints from his neighbours.

Reports had it that the arrest of the suspect was made easy through the efforts and support of the traditional ruler of Akure land, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi.

The monarch according to source was said to have handed the suspect over to officials of the NSCDC after he escaped from the palace.

The absence of their mother from the house reportedly gave the suspect the liberty to harass his daughters sexually.

Sources said the suspect was fond of mixing some powdery substances with a bottle of soft drink and give to the girls to drink after which they will sleep off and he would sexually abuse them.

It was learnt that the cries of the victims attracted his neighbours who reported their ordeal to the palace after which he was handed over later to the officials of the NSCDC in the state.

The spokesperson of the NSCDC in the state, Olufemi Omole said that the suspect “always seize the opportunity of his wife’s absence to harass the minors sexually.

Omole added that ” He went further to caress the kids and suck their private parts. The neighbours reflected on hearing the wailing of the children throughout the night after sending out their mother.

“Medical examination from Federal Medical Centre Annex in Akure, however, revealed that both the 9 and 6 years old kids have lost their Hymen and their private part deeply opened.

Speaking on the arrest of the suspect, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Philip Ayuba said the suspect would be charged to Court after the completion of investigation

Ayuba said, “The state government has shown interest in this case and the welfare of the children has been fully guaranteed”

He reassured the public of safety and adequate protection of lives and property noting that “the Command is poised to eradicating all forms of criminal tendencies and social vices in Ondo State.

Nigeria Reports 313 More COVID-19 Cases, Total Infections Hit 7,839


Nigeria has recorded 313 new cases of COVID-19 today, Sunday, May 25, 2020.

The official figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control shows that the total number of infections has increased to 7,839.


In a further breakdown of the numbers, 226 deaths have occurred while 2,263 people have been discharged.

Hon. Ogunlola felicitates with Muslim Faithfuls


The Honourable representing Ijero, Ekiti West and Efon Federal constituency in the House of Representative, Abuja, Hon. Barr. Omowumi Olubunmi Ogunlola MHR has joined well wishers across the globe to felicitate with Muslim faithfuls as they celebrate this year's Eid El Filtri. 

The Honourable member in her Eid-el-Fitri message on Sunday, congratulated Muslim faithfuls on the completion of the 30-days fasting and prayers, stressing that the spiritual exercise had brought them more closer to almighty Allah.

She urged Muslims to live in love, peace and harmony with one another as brothers and sisters. She noted that Ramadan was a season of love and sacrifice. 

Hon. Ogunlola urged them to celebrate Eid-el-Filtri with modesty in view of the ravaging coronavirus pandemic which has disrupted socio- economic and religious activities across the globe.

She also urge all Muslim faithfuls in her constituency to cooperate with government by adhering to restriction orders and other guidelines for the COVID-19 in the Claus of them them celebrating the Ramadan festival, that success would be achieved in the fight against the pandemic with the adherence of all and sundry.

“On behalf of the good people Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 2, I congratulate all Muslim faithfuls on the Eid-el- Fitri celebration, and pray that Almighty Allah will accept our supplications, grant all our heart desires and preserve our lives to witness many more celebrations.”, Hon. Nigeria records 265 new COVID-19 cases, total now 7,526

Confirmed cases of coronavirus have increased to 7,526 in Nigeria, NEWS DIRECT reports.

This is after 265 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the country on Saturday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known on its website.

Data from the centre showed that an additional 167 patients recovered from the virus in the country.

No COVID-19 death was reported in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the released data.

NCDC said, “On the 23rd of May 2020, 265 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria.

“No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.

“Till date, 7,526 cases have been confirmed, 2,174 cases have been discharged and 221 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“The 265 new cases are reported from 13 states- Lagos(133), Oyo(34), Edo(28), Ogun(23), FCT(22), Plateau(6), Kaduna (5), Borno(3), Niger(3), Kwara(2), Bauchi(2), Anambra(2), Enugu(2).”
