The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi on Saturday, prayed for a successful tenure for Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, as the state commenced preparations for the October 16th inauguration.
Ooni who prayed for the Governor-elect during coronation ceremony of Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti, Oba (Dr.) Sunday Aikuirawo Aniyi and conferment of chieftaincy tittle of Yeye Oba, Ekiti State First Lady, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, said God would make his tenure peaceful and prosperous.
The monarch also congratulated Governor Kayode Fayemi for successfully midwiving a democratic transition to a worthy successor, describing it as a rare feat in the South West states.
"I heartily congratulate the Governor-elect, His Excellency, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his deputy on their well deserved victory. God has gracefully chosen you to take over from the incumbent Governor.
"I also congratulate the outgoing Governor, Dr John Kayode Fayemi
for successfully midwiving a democratic transition to a worthy successor. I pray that the tenure of the Governor-elect shall be peaceful. God will be with you and give you all the required strength that will enable you to steer the ship of Ekiti State."
Ooni Ogunwusi described Oyebanji as a man of good character and God fearing. He urged the Governor-elect to maintain cordial relationship with the outgoing Governor and sustain his good legacies.
"I know the Governor-elect as a man of good character and God fearing. My only advice for him is that, he should maintain the existing cordial relationship between him and the outgoing Governor.
"I also charge the Governor-elect to continue with the good legacies of the outgoing Governor"
The Governor-elect in his brief remark at the event, congratulated the first lady on the new chieftaincy title conferred on her. He also congratulated the Obaleo on his first coronation anniversary. He also gave assurance that his administration would support the development of the community.
"I congratulate Her Excellency, Erelu Bisi Fayemi on her new chieftaincy tittle. We are delighted for the honour that is bestowed on you.
"I welcome the Ooni of Ife and other Obas to this auspicious occasion. I also congratulate the Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti who is also my friend on his first year coronation anniversary.
"I don't have much to say than to give assurance that our administration will support this community. This community won't be left out in scheme of things in the incoming administration"
The highpoint of the ceremony, which was graced by Governor Fayemi, Osun State First Lady, Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola and wife of the Governor-elect, Dr Mrs Olayemi Oyebanji, was the conferment of chieftaincy tittle of Yeye Oba on Erelu Bisi Fayemi.
