The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has pointed out how his administration would unite Nigeria if elected in 2023.
The former Anambra governor said his administration would attempt to reunite Nigeria using the provisions of the law.
Speaking during a town hall meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday, Obi said a review of the Nigerian constitution would be part of the overall restructuring Nigerians desire.
He said: “We will seek to reunite Nigeria through strict adherence to Constitutional provisions on equitable representation in Federal establishments and regenerate a sense of belonging to all citizens through inclusivity and adequate representation of women, youths and people with disability in government.”
Obi said the constitutional review would entail legislative, executive, and judicial actions, adding that “ultimately the Nigerian people will decide”.
He also noted that his government would proactively reassert Nigeria’s leadership role in African affairs through constructive engagement, using existing sub-regional and regional forums and bilateral platforms for dialogue on current and emerging challenges.
